General Functions of the Position:
- Transport MWO Personnel to and from the destination
- Research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays
- Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use
- Prepare travel ticket and other documentary requirements
- Keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date
- Arrange for vehicle repairs as needed
- Provide administrative support work, as needed.
Qualifications:
- At least a high school graduate
- With Japan Driver’s License
- Japanese or Filipino national; between 26 years old and above;
- Physically- and mentally-fit to work;
- Good working knowledge in the Japan road and traffic regulations;
- Familiar with Tokyo area;
- FOR FILIPINO NATIONALS: Above-average written and verbal communication skills in Japanese
- FOR JAPANESE NATIONALS: Average written and verbal communication skills in English

Invitation to apply for the vacancy “Interpreter / Translator”
The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines invites qualified persons to apply for the vacant position of Interpreter / Translator.
Position:
Interpreter / Translator
Working Hours:
0900-1800 hrs., Monday to Friday. The selected candidate should be willing to work beyond prescribed office hours and on weekends/holidays as needed.
Salary:
Competitive monthly salary. With overtime pay for authorized overtime work.
Qualifications Required:
- A degree from a recognized university.
- Certification proving high level of English proficiency ( TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS, etc., preferably with a score in the top percentile).
- Native Japanese speaker.
- At least five (5) years of professional work experience as an interpreter or similar role with both simultaneous and sentence-by-sentence interpretation capability (J-E & E-J)
Experience:
At least five (5) years’ experience as translator/interpreter (simultaneous and/or consecutive).
Skills:
- Strong linguistic skills, both in oral and written communication (English and Japanese).
- Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.
- Ability to translate quickly, confidently and accurately, speak clearly in between both languages (Japanese-English) using proper pronunciation, enunciation and polite expressions.
- Ability and stamina to interpret meetings for at least 1 hour by yourself.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work as an in-house interpreter in various types of meetings, both face-to-face and online, in a dynamic environment.
- Computer knowledge with special emphasis on MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and video conferencing apps like Zoom, Teams and WebEx, with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Good working knowledge of clerical office work, liaising with counterparts and other stakeholders.
- Able to do basic research works on various topics, including political and economic issues.
- Ability to do work with strict observance of rules and schedules.
- Willing to learn the various services of the Embassy to be able to provide information to others.
Mental and Physical Health:
Candidates should be in good mental and physical health. At the time of offer of appointment, candidates need to submit a medical certificate indicating fitness to work.
General Functions of the Position
- Provide translation and interpretation services to Embassy personnel and official guests whenever needed (e.g. meetings, contract signing, etc.)
- Attend meetings and functions on behalf of the Embassy whenever necessary, and provide subsequent reports for the information of Embassy personnel.
- Draft communications and reports, do research, and provide substantive assistance personnel of the Embassy.
- Liaise with various stakeholders in Japanese and/or English.
- Provide administrative work, as needed.
